Born in Pennsylvania, Dutch Country, Ron Rutt was a guy whose family moved around a lot. At a young age, he took to crayon barn art. As a teenager, he moved West where his father was prospecting Uranium near Jackson, Wyoming. In high school, an art teacher showed the ins and outs of pen and ink drawings, but in Wyoming it was the majestic tetons that drew him to pencil sketching and oil painting. He had the opportunity to meet a local Artist Conrad Schwiering whom encouraged him to continue. In 1982, he moved to Denver, where he met and was tutored by Artist Jerry Fugere. His tutoring opened a new world in oil painting. Since then, he has been self taught. He was fortunate enough to meet Ken Knudson and be invited to show in his gallery.
